Make your growing business function like a well-oiled machine

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

For an expanding company to maintain quality and continue delivering its core competency, it is vital to have standardized procedures and efficient systems for everything from sales and marketing, to operations and human resources, to finance and accounting.

These procedures must be developed into official company protocol. This enables operations to be maintained in the absence of any key member. The process of committing business procedures to paper is also invaluable in helping conceptualize the system of interlinked tasks that make up the organization. A logical, straightforward system flow is absolutely indispensable to any expanding business.

It is also important to establish your brand. What feelings do you want your company’s image to evoke in the public? From your receptionist’s phone demeanour to the colours of your marketing materials, a strong image and consistent message will differentiate your company from the competition.

Carefully planned and designed brand standards guides, sales/marketing systems, operational manuals, and IT handbooks are key tools for making your company run like a well-oiled machine that is ready to support long-term growth.
