What About Those Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I’ve been looking for a SEO specialist to help me with my website. I’m not too shy in admitting that my site can be more functional than it currently is. Most importantly, my site can be more client-centric, value adding, and with a wider reach. I’m working hard on improving the content in hope to provide more value to not just my clients, but also to small business owners in general. As for the reach part, that’s where my future SEO specialist comes in.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the quality and the quantity of web traffic to a site through search engines. When surfers type in a specific keyword related to a business, a search engine smart site will be ranked higher on the search result, and hence receive more attention from surfers.

At today’s date and age, we all recognize that we can not do without a website when we’re open for business, but perhaps not all of us are aware of the fact that we need to intentionally market the website as well, and SEO is one of the important tools. Especially if your website is one of your sales channels, potentially there is a big payoff from making your site search engine smart.

I came across an article in the November 2005 issue of PROFIT Magazine, and it has a nice little summary of the questions you can ask yourself.

When you build your website, remember to ask your web developer to incorporate some of the discussion items the article talks about.
